Each softgel capsule contains:
- Simethicone USP: 180 mg
- Excipients: q.s.
Gasicon is a medicine that contains Simethicone. It is used to reduce excessive gas in the stomach and relieve symptoms like stomach discomfort, abdominal pain, fulness and bloating. This medicine works by reducing stomach discomfort by expelling gas.
Simethicone acts in the stomach and intestines to change the surface tension of gas bubbles, enabling their breakdown and the formation of larger bubbles that are more easily passed.
Simethicone is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and is excreted unchanged in the feces.
Simethicone Soft Gelatin Capsules is indicated for the relief of painful symptoms as: sensation of pressure, fullness in the epigastrium and intestinal spasm - due to excessive accumulation of gases that may be formed in the digestive tract in the following cases:
- Adults: 1-2 capsules as needed, or as prescribed by the physician.
- Children: As prescribed by the physician.
Hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation.
- Do not exceed the recommended dose.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture.
- Generally well tolerated when taken as directed.
- Possible side effects include nausea, diarrhea, and headache.
Overdose symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. In case of overdose, seek immediate medical attention.
If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
